It's Christmas Day!

As I sit here on Christmas morning with my cup of tea, relaxing to the sound of the birds and cicadas and enjoying the beautiful weather; I get to reflect on how amazing the last few weeks have been. One of the best parts of what I do, is the ability to read all the lovely messages between people; it is just so moving.Christmas Eve didn't go quite to plan.....the plan was to open around 8am and close at 2pm. What actually occurred was open about 7.45am and close after 5pm! It was amazing to see ...

Valentine's and Covid

Our first Valentine's Day is over; I was so moved by the amount of love being shown to people and the support that we received. It was certainly a busy day with deliveries starting at 8.30am on the Sunday! Orders were being received from Australia and all around the globe for some of our lovely residents. The team had a long weekend and we finally closed up at 3pm for a well earned rest.Sadly, Valentine's Day also saw us go back in to lockdown once again. For us here in Rotorua, it wasn't too ba...

Time waits for no florist!

After coming back from our summer break, we have been busy in the shop restocking and designing new arrangements, however, time waits for no florist and Valentines Day is nearly here! We have finally managed to get some of our new arrangements online (our IT department is a bit slack and I need to whip him in to shape!), and a new window display for the amazing Capers is well underway.Last Sunday I had time to go and visit the Wedding Street Market held by Terrace Kitchen, what an amaz...

Welcome to a New Year!

First of all I just want to say I hope everyone had a good Christmas break and the New Year sees every fit, healthy and happy! My Christmas break was very busy! As the flower markets and most of our suppliers are shut down over the Christmas break, I decided to spend some quality time with my family and travel around the South Island in a campervan for the best part of 3 weeks. 4,600kms later and I am back to work! The trip was busy but very relaxing at the same time; it also gave me the opportu...

New Zealand Lilies

On Sunday, I was busy beavering away in the shop cleaning all the vases, changing the water and re-cutting the flowers; and I noticed the usual beautiful smell in the shop and it got me thinking about a question that I have always take for granted....."what is that beautiful smell?" Well the answer is simple isn't it, it's just the flowers? Well the answer isn't always that simple. I decided to undertake an investigation to provide an answer to what was creating a beautiful, sweet smell. I pulle...

Grand opening

Yes! It finally happened! With the grand opening last Thursday, we are officially open! The whole team were blown away with the amount of support and positivity we received last Thursday; from the messages saying good luck, the people popping in all day to say sorry that can't make the opening to the huge amount of people that turned up. The feedback was amazing and all completely positive; Julie was almost in tears due to everyone's kindness and joy. One of my favourite comments that I have bee...
