Julie Senington

Hi I’m Julie. I am born and raised in Rotorua and grew up on a dairy farm in Waikite Valley.  My family and I love Rotorua and all it has to offer.

My floral interest started at a very young age as my parents had an amazing, huge, country cottage garden where I would pick flowers from, and make them into little posies.

Floristry and design is in my blood. My great grandmother had a florists called “Totty’s” in Whanganui in the 1920’s. Our family are all part of this, and our children especially love to help-out. My grandmothers, mother and other family members also have a huge love for flowers.

I have 20 years of experience as a florist in Rotorua and previously owned Daisy Chain. My passion is flowers, my family and nature. I am so proud of what we have created for our beautiful town of Rotorua.

Meriden Chapman

Hello! Also a long time Rotorua local, I have spent time living elsewhere in NZ and abroad but find myself drawn back to this awesome place!

From winning 'Best Flower Arrangement' at school when I was 6, to studying my Level 3 Certificate in Professional Floristry at Wintec, to working as a florist in Edinburgh - my love for all things floral has been a life long journey and I am so happy to be working here at Kānuka!

I enjoy creating smiles all day long in the shop, and working with customers to create floral magic for special occasions such as weddings. When not working you'll find me heading into the bush with my partner and our pups, sowing seeds in the greenhouse, checking on my bees or swimming in the lake - all year round of course!

Shakera

Hi Everyone, Shakera here - also known as Kera "over the phone that is" haha

I am a local girl born and raised by my amazing and supportive family who have always encouraged my creative side. When I was offered and opportunity to work in a Florist shop after school I jumped at the chance and quickly fell in love.

After graduation from JPC I studied at MIT in Auckland, focusing on Level 3 and 4 Floristry. Learning the foundation that all florists use today in their work has allowed me to be more creative and innovative in my designs today. I have been working as a junior florist ever since while still learning and creating my own designs. I very much look forward to what I come up with in the future!
