Welcome to a New Year!

A busy Christmas

First of all I just want to say I hope everyone had a good Christmas break and the New Year sees every fit, healthy and happy!

My Christmas break was very busy! As the flower markets and most of our suppliers are shut down over the Christmas break, I decided to spend some quality time with my family and travel around the South Island in a campervan for the best part of 3 weeks. 4,600kms later and I am back to work! The trip was busy but very relaxing at the same time; it also gave me the opportunity to look at the beauty of our native flowers and plants (and some introduced ones too!) that we are very lucky to have in New Zealand. Seeing the Pohutukawa in bloom in Kaikōura with fresh snow on the mountains behind was just breath taking....yes it was flippin' freezing too.

While travelling around, I took some time out to look at some of the amazing florists we have here in New Zealand; there are some very talented people out there! I also got the opportunity to meet one of our dried flower suppliers. It is great to see and meet the people that supply us with some outstanding product to use (I may have sneaked a very large box of dried flowers back with us in the campervan...... I'm sure my partner didn't notice).

While the break was great, my shop is my happy place. I get to work with flowers, talk to people and to make people happy; all my favourite things and I can't be any happier.
